Oven Baked Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
When I first started tracking my macros I would just type in chicken breast and log that into my tracker. This was years ago when I was still working my first job as a dietitian at a hospital.
Never did I stop and think, should I type in raw chicken breasts or cooked chicken breasts because there is a HUGE difference. Especially if youre tracking your calories and protein intake for weight loss. Or on the opposite side if youre trying to gain weight.
When we cook our food, in this case chicken breasts, we lose water and juices during the cooking process. This makes the calories and protein more concentrated per ounce.
So if youre logging 4oz of RAW chicken breast into your app, when youre actually eating 4oz of COOKED chicken breasts, youre unknowing eating more calories and protein then what you think.
And if youre eating a lot of chicken breasts for the week, say you meal prepped 3 pounds of chicken, youre going to be eating way more calories than you think and this will hinder weight loss.

Chicken Thighs Or Breasts
Which is healthier, chicken thighs or chicken breasts? Both are available without skin and bone, so does it really matter which one you eat? The breast is white meat, while the thighs are dark. Chicken thighs also tend to be cheaper than breasts.
According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, both chicken thighs and chicken breasts are a good source of lean protein, but thighs are higher in calories and fat. A 3-ounce portion of boneless, skinless chicken thigh contains three times the amount of fat and 30 more calories compared to the same amount of chicken breast.
If you can’t live without your dark meat, opt for dark turkey meat, which is lower in fat and has fewer calories than a chicken thigh. A 3-ounce portion of dark turkey meat contains about 134 calories, and only 5 grams of total fat, and 1.5 grams of saturated fat.

How You Cook Your Chicken Matters
Chicken meat alone is relatively low in calories and fat compared to other meats. But once you start adding oil, sauce, batter, and breading, the calories can add up.
For example, a skinless, boneless, cooked chicken thigh contains 208 calories and 9.5 g of fat .
But that same chicken thigh fried in batter contains even more 238 calories and 14.2 g of fat (
Therefore, cooking methods that add little fat, such as poaching, roasting, grilling, and steaming, are your best bet for keeping the calorie count low.
Cooking methods, such as frying in breading and coating the meat in sauce, can add more than a few calories to your chicken. For a low calorie option, stick with baked or grilled chicken.

How Big Is An 6 Oz Chicken Breast
In general, an uncooked boneless chicken breast weighs between 6 and 10 oz. That means a 6 oz breast is on the small side, although still a pretty large chunk of meat.
The suggested serving size for chicken breast is 3 to 4 oz. So a 6 oz portion is like two small servings and more than most people consume in one sitting.
However, an 6 oz chicken breast is an easy meal for large bodybuilders or people with big appetites on a high protein diet. Personally, I eat 8 ounces of chicken twice per day with rice and vegetables.
As a reference, an 8 oz chicken breast is about the size of an average persons hand. So a 6 oz chicken breast is more like a small hand.

Is 1200 Enough Calories For A Day
Whether 1200 calories is enough for a day depends on a variety of factors such as a persons age, gender, height, weight, and activity level. Generally speaking, if you are an adult age 19 or older, you would need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories per day in order to meet your daily nutritional needs.
However, this number may differ slightly depending on your individual situation. For example, if you are particularly active and have a higher metabolism, you may need more than 1200 calories to fuel your body.
On the other hand, if you lead a sedentary lifestyle, consume less than 1200 calories per day may be appropriate for you.
Ultimately, it is best to speak to your doctor about what the ideal calorie intake is for your body. They can help take into account all of your personal factors such as age, gender, height, weight, and activity level and provide you with a specific calorie number to meet your daily needs.
Additionally, your doctor can provide you with additional dietary information to ensure that you are getting the essential nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and strong.

How Do I Make Sure That My Bone
First, make sure to add them to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Secondly, you have to check the internal temperature of the cooked chicken to see if it’s cooked all the way through.
After the cooking time has passed, place a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken, away from any bone, to get an accurate reading.
If the temperature reads 165 degrees, the chicken is done cooking and is ready to start the resting process. If the thermometer isn’t showing that high of a reading, the chicken will need to be cooked longer.
How Do I Keep This Air Fryer Chicken Thighs Recipe From Sticking To The Air Fryer Basket
If you’re worried that the chicken will stick, just spray the basket with cooking spray, use a silicone liner, or use parchment paper designed for air fryers. Nonstick spray will help alleviate that worry. I use a sprayable olive oil that works really well.
Most air fryer baskets should already be nonstick, but it never hurts to add another layer of protection for peace of mind.
